Colombia is currently the 4th largest steam coal exporter in the world (79.0 Mt in 2013, and 78.8 Mt in 2014). It largely supplies European and Mediterranean consumers but also delivers some quantities to the U.S. at the Golf Coast, and to Central and South America. Since 2005, however, steam coal consumption in the OECD has de- creased by around 12 %. Future coal demand in most European countries and in the USA will most likely continue declining in the next decades.
