During Q4 2020, average black coal-fired generation was 10,710 MW, its lowest quarterly output since Q4 2014 and 707 MW lower than Q4 2019. Average New South Wales black coal-fired output reduced to 5,249 MW, its lowest level since NEM start. Record low output was predominantly driven by a significant increase in outages, with reduced operational demand and increased grid-scale solar also contributing.
