KRU company buys 100 of Taldinsky-Zapadny open-pit mine

On June 17, 2021 Kuzbassrazrezugol (KRU), owned by Ural Mining and Metallurgical company, purchased 100% of Taldinsky-Zapadny open-pit mine, belonging to TalTEK. The open-pit mine is located in the Kemerevo region and has balance reserves of 2.1 mio t of coal DG and GZHO grades. In 2020, extraction volumes at Taldinsky-Zapadny open-pit mine amounted to 0.83 mio t (+0.11 mio t to 2019). 0.7 mio t (82.5%) of coal were exported with 0.5 mio t of exports delivered to Ukraine.

TalTEK is an industrial holding, owning assets in mining and transportation. Coal mining assets of the company include Lugovoye, Polyany and ‘TalTEK’ open-pit mines. In 2019, TalTEK purchased Northern Kuzbass Coal Company. In 2020, TalTEK produced 6.8 mio t (-0.6 mio t or -8.4% to 2019).

KRU is the second largest coal producer in Russia. The company includes Kedrovsky, Mokhovsky, Bachatsky, Krasnobrodsky, Taldinsky, Kaltansky open-pit mines and Baykaimskaya coal mine. In 2020, the company extracted 43.2 mio t (-3.8 mio t or -8.1% to 2019).
