In the 11 months of CY 2023 India produced 875.71 million metric tonnes (MMT) of coal. This exceeds the CY2022 total production of 862.05 MMT. Also, in these 11 months, India imported 248.29 MMT of solid fuels versus 244.49 MMT in all of CY 2022. Non coking coal imports in the 11 months of 2023 have reached 163.45 MMT versus 160.87 MMT in CY 2022. It is to be seen if the CY 2023 Non coking coal import will exceed the 182.06 MMT imported in CY 2019.
