Under the Ministry of Coal Industry of Kuzbass, in January-November 2021 coal mining enterprises in Kuzbass produced 221.6 mio t of coal (+20.2 mio t or +10.0% to January-November 2020). The production of coking coal during this period decreased to 65.3 mio t (-2.8 mio t or -4.1% y-o-y), whereas thermal coal extraction volumes amounted to 156.4 mio t (+23.0 mio t or +17.2% y-o-y).
Coal companies produced 144.9 mio t (+18.0 mio t or +14.2% y-o-y) at open-pit mines and 76.7 mio t (+2.2 mio t or +3.0% y-o-y) through underground mining.
In November 2021, 18.6 mio t (-0.5 mio t or -2.5% y-o-y) were shipped by rail, including 9.2 mio t (-0.6 mio t or -6.1% y-o-y) in the western direction, 5.1 mio t (+0.8 mio t or +18.6% y-o-y) in the eastern direction and 4.2 mio t (-0.7 mio t or -14.3% y-o-y) to local consumers.
In November 2021, 17.0 mio t of coal were delivered to end-users, including 11.8 mio t (+0.3 mio t) for export, 2.8 mio t (-0.1 mio t) to Russian metallurgical companies and 1.2 mio t (-0.2 mio t) to local coal-fired power plants.
As of December 01, 2021, coal stocks in Kuzbass totaled 16.7 mio t (+0.4 mio t or +2.5% to December 01, 2020).
In 2021 Kuzbass coal enterprises intend to ramp up coal production up to 235.0 mio t (+15.0 mio t or +6% to 2020).
