Coal and China’s climate policy?

After reaching a plateau for several years, China’s carbon emissions have been rising again. Industrial coal use and rising electricity demand have both contributed. China uses more coal than the rest of the world combined, reaching 56% of world coal consumption in 2022. China’s coal consumption grew 4% in 2022. While China continues to add coal capacity, wind and solar also continue to go strong, and solar PV additions reached a new annual record in 2022.
