Coal constrained by renewables in China, but not in other parts of Asia. This is one of the conclusions of the recently released Global Electricity market report report.  As highlighted in IEA’s Renewables 2023 report, China commissioned in 2023 as much solar PV capacity as the entire world did in 2022, while its wind power capacity additions also grew by 66% year-on-year.
