Coal demand up 13% higher (1 billion tonnes)

The IEA’s annual global coal trends report seems to support the view that coal will remain for the foreseeable future, a vital fuel to drive growth, provide energy security, and lower emissions in developing nations. The Coal 2023 report, released on 15 December, estimates demand will reach a record 8.54 billion tonnes in 2023, an increase from 8.42 billion tonnes in 2022.
