India’s total coal and coke imports in May 2024 exceeded the imports of the preceding seven months, reaching 26.54 MMT. The imports have registered a minor 1% YoY rise from 26.33 MMT in May 2023 and a 9% MoM upsurge from 24.37 MMT import level in April 2024. During the initial five months of CY2024, the combined imports of coal and coke in India amounted to 119.39 MMT, marking an 11% increase over the corresponding period in CY2023, when imports stood at 107.55 MMT.
