The implementation of the second phase will expand the capacity for all cargos to 210 mio t per year until 2030. Commissioning of the third phase is scheduled for 2032 and will allow RZD to increase cargo handling capacity to 255 mio t.
In 2022, rail shipments of all cargoes in the eastern direction amounted to 169 mio t. Coal accounted for 66% of all shipments. RZD is currently implementing the second stage of the Eastern range expansion, which is meant to increase the carrying capacity of BAM and TSR to 180 mio t by 2024.
