(CAA Analytics) The arbitration court of the Kemerovo region rejected all appeals of Kiyzassky open-pit mine, owned by the Sibantracite Group, against the decision of the court to satisfy the demands of Rosprirodnadzor. Now the coal miner is required to conduct a full reclamation of land that last year suffered from an emergency landslide, caused by works at the open-pit mine.

Kolmar to launch new coal mine in Yakutia

Early July, the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on family, women and children Tamara Pletneva sent a request to the Prosecutor General’s office and Rosprirodnadzor to check the Sibantracite Group for compliance with environmental standards. Tamara Pletneva referred to the appeal of the initiative group of citizens in the Novosibirsk region, who complained about mudslides, caused by coal extraction at the Kolyvan coal mine, belonging to the Sibantracite Group.

Late July, Alexander Isaev, a former co-owner and exCEO of VostokCoal (part of Alltech Group, founded by Dmitry Bosov who died in May) and Vadim Bugaev filed a lawsuit to recover 600.5 mio RUR (9 mio USD) from VostokCoal-Dikson, established by VostokCoal in 2014 for coal extraction at Malolemberovskoye and Nizhnelemberovskoye coal deposits in Taimyr. The specified amount of claims (600.5 mio RUR) exactly coincides with the fine, which was previously recovered by Rosprirodnadzor from VostokCoal-Dikson for illegal coal mining in Taimyr.

Meanwhile, the owner of the Sibantracite Group Katerina Bosov, the widow of Dmitry Bosov, explains all reports of disasters that occurred at the open-pit mines, owned by her company, by attempts of Alexander Isaev and a group of investors to orchestrate a raider attack on the assets, belonging to the Sibantracite Group. Experts believe that this way Katerina Bosov is trying to save the company from a financial collapse.

Sibantracite Group is the largest anthracite producer in Russia. The company owns 50% in the Sugodinsko-Ogodzhinskoye coal field and includes Siberian Anthracite, Vostochny and Kiyzassky open-pit mines. In 2019, the Sibantracite Group produced 23.7 mio t of coal. The company is owned by Alltech Group, established by Dmitry Bosov, and now controlled by his widow Katerina Bosov along with other heirs.
