India’s Monthly Coal Import & Export Report of October 2023

In the month of October 2023, India witnessed a notable upsurge in its combined imports of coal and coke, reaching a second historic pinnacle at 27.19 MMT. This marked a substantial increase of 35% YoY and a 27% MoM rise in the import level. The cumulative total of imports for the period spanning January to October 2023 reached 217.46 MMT, reflecting a 4% growth compared to the corresponding period in CY2022, which stood at 208.29 MMT. This import level has notably surpassed the historical import volume of CY2019, signifying a significant milestone in India’s trade dynamics.
