Asian Energy Markets Following the Russian Invasion of Ukraine

Asia relies on coal for close to 50 per cent of its primary energy consumption. As European (and some Asian) countries search for alternative-origin supplies, prices of South African and Australian thermal coal rose sharply, tightening the Asian coal market.
