Chinese energy market re-opens

Thermal power capacity (coal and gas) may grow by an additional 70 GW in 2023. Moreover, the use of coal to produce gas and chemicals has been increasing. So, whilst the share of coal in the primary energy mix and power generation is declining, the absolute quantity of coal consumption continues to rise.
