Coal and the performance of the U.S. power generation fleet during Winter Storm Elliott

The coal power fleet was a principal source of increased power generation to meet demand during Winter Storm Elliott. Without adequate and comparable replacement capacity, electric power system failures are more likely during similar extreme weather events.
