India’s coal import and exports – February update

In February 2024, India’s total imports of coal and coke reached 22.39 MMT, reflecting a YoY growth of 25% and a MoM increase of 2%. Comparatively, in February 2023, India imported 17.88 MMT of coal, while in January 2024, the import level stood at 22.02 MMT. For the calendar year 2024, India’s total coal and coke imports amounted to 44.40 MMT, marking a 25% YoY rise from the corresponding period in 2023, when imports totalled 35.60 MMT.
