Northern China’s Shanxi province produced 268.62 million tonnes of raw coal in the first four months, almost unchanged from a year ago, showed data from the province’s statistical office.
In January-April, the added value of the coal industry increased by 0.2% over the same period last year.
In April, raw coal production totaled 74.11 million tonnes, up 1.4% year on year, with the added value up by 2.2% year on year.
Shanxi’s coke production totaled 7.95 million tonnes in April, an increase of 8.1%, adding up to a total production of 28 million tonnes in the first four months, rising 4.3% on the year.
April coal-bed menthol amounted to 430 million cubic meters, up 14.6% from a year earlier. The output totaled 1.69 billion cu m in the first four months, up 15.9% on the year.
Shanxi also generated 22.47 TWh of electricity in April, up 4.2% on the year, and 96.33 TWh in the past four months, with a rise of 12.6%.
