Every fourth investment project in the coal industry of Kuzbass has been postponed.
The main reasons for this decision were low global coal prices, high transportation costs, and an unfavorable market environment, which reduces the investment appeal of new projects.
Currently, 30 out of 151 coal enterprises in the region found themselves in critical condition, and 18 have completely suspended operations.
In Kuzbass, where high-quality coal production is concentrated, output from January to August 2025 dropped to 124.9 mio t (-8.6 mio t or -6.5% y-o-y).
