(Yudhi Putro) 2019 will probably be a historic year for the Indonesian coal industry, the achievement of production 616 million MT maybe the highest of all time.
I said highest of all time because There are several negative and positive sentiments that will affect coal export from Indonesia and domestic consumption in the next decade as follows :
(-) The economic recovery due to Covid is predicted to recover in 2022, and the world may already have passed peak demand for fossil fuel ; Impact less export volume
(-) The policies of a number countries such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China to reduce use of coal and switch to renewable energy or Natural Gas ; Impact less export volume
(-) India’s policy to increase domestic coal production to reduce import coal ; Impact less export volume
(- / +) Coal fired power plant projects delayed by covid and funding in a several countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia Philippines, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
(+) Increasing domestic demand from PLN and Industry and concern to national defence of primary energy ; Impact increase dometic demand and Government will more strictly limit production.
